Welcome!

The UNA Center for Writing Excellence is dedicated to helping UNA students, faculty, and staff at any level of study and any point in the writing process.

The University Writing Center, located on the 2nd floor of The Commons, offers individual or group consultations, usually face-to-face, but also online, for those students who do not visit campus because of distance learning classes.

Consultants will assist with any written homework assignment, from any course, in any major, for the entirety of your UNA career.  They will even help with resumes, cover letters, graduate school application essays, and personal writing, such as poetry or fiction.

All writing consultants are encouraged to attend a semester-length training course during their first year of employment.  During this course, they learn about the writing and research process, writing across the disciplines, technology tips, interpersonal communication skills related to tutoring and consulting, and office policies and protocols.

Remember, consultants are never responsible for your grades and will NOT write the assignment for you or simply edit your work.

In addition, the Writing Center contains books and guides on many different areas of writing. These resources may be accessed free of charge during hours of operation. Custom handouts containing writing information and strategies are displayed below.
