All things Open at UNA

Introduction

As demand for open access publications has increased, many publishers have begun to offer "Read & Publish" agreements. Under these agreements, the publisher waives the open access publishing charges for researchers affiliated with subscribing institutions.  These types of agreements may also be called transformative agreements.

Collier Library currently has these types of agreements with three publishers - the American Chemical Society (ACS), the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), and Springer Nature. The terms of each agreement are different. See the boxes below for links to information on each of these agreements.

American Chemical Society (ACS)

In 2022, Collier Library signed a new multi-year agreement with ACS that covers January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2025. Part of that agreement was participation in the ACS-Sponsored Read + Publish program for the duration of the agreement. The program provides sponsored open access publication to authors at primarily undergraduate institutions that subscribe to the All- Publications Package.

Association of Computing Machinery (ACM)

ACM OPEN is a transformative read and publish model, offering participating institutions unlimited open access publishing in the Digital Library and unlimited read access to its full text contents. The initial term of our participation was for three years, beginning in July 2023.

Springer Nature

Collier Library is part of the Lyrasis consortium's group for a Springer Nature Read & Publish agreement. The current agreement runs from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2027.
