Did You Know?

Courtview, now known as the University of North Alabama’s Rogers Hall, was built for George Washington Foster in 1854. When choosing a place to build his home, Foster decided he wanted to place his house in the middle of Court Street, turning Florence’s main street into a dead end. An act of the state legislature and $300 granted Foster the building site for this Greek Revival mansion.
