Detached Spine
If a cover is beginning to tear away from the spine, it's best to remove and reattach it completely.
Start by carefully cutting along the spine to separate the cover from the text block.
Reinforce the spine by creating a new, sturdier one using cloth tape. To prevent the tape from adhering directly to the text block, measure and place a piece of paper over the spine. Follow the standard procedure for reattaching a detached text block.
Once the cover is secured, affix the reinforced spine to it.
Trim the title information from the damaged spine and glue it onto the new spine.
After the initial glue layer dries, apply an additional layer for added durability.
